AI Tool Finder
Pick a task, a budget and an audience, and we will pull matching tools from the directory.
Your answers only pick tools from our directory. Nothing is stored.
Question 1 of 3 Your matches
What do you want to get done?
Pick the closest match. You can go back and change it.
How much do you want to spend?
Free plans are often limited by usage; a trial lets you test the full product.
Who will use it?
This helps when the first category has only a few matches.

How the finder works
- Pick the job you want done, from writing and images to code, sales or automation.
- Choose a budget: a free plan only, a free plan or free trial, or any price.
- Say who will use the tool: just you, your team, developers, students and teachers, or creators.
Each task points to one or more categories of the Ask AI For It directory. Write or edit text looks in Writing, for example, and Marketing, SEO and social media looks in three categories at once. The budget then filters the matches:
| Budget | What you get |
|---|---|
| Free plan | Tools with a free plan or a free option |
| Free plan or free trial | Tools with a free plan, or paid plans that start with a free trial |
| Any price | Every matching tool, free or paid |
If the task's categories give fewer than six tools, the finder adds tools from a category that fits your audience: Developer tools for developers, Education for students and teachers, Social media for creators and Business for teams.
You get up to 12 tools. Featured listings, which makers pay for, come first; the rest are sorted by how recently they were updated. Under the results are links to the full categories, where you can see every tool and filter further.
Get better results
- Start broad. If the list is short, change the budget to Any price, then look for free plans on the tool pages.
- Check the limits. A free plan can mean a few uses a day, a watermark or a cap on file size. The pricing label on each card comes from our listing, but prices and limits change, so confirm on the maker's site.
- Try two or three. Most AI tools for the same job differ in output quality more than in features. Run the same task through a few of them before you decide.
- Share the result. The page address keeps your answers, so you can send the list to a colleague.
What the results are, and are not
The finder picks tools only from our directory. It is a quick shortlist, not a test or a ranking of the best tools on the market: we do not score products on quality, and a tool missing here may simply not be listed yet.
Your answers are sent to our server only to choose the tools. They are not stored or linked to you.
How are the tools ordered?
Featured listings come first. Makers pay for that placement, and it only affects the order of tools that already match your answers. The rest follow, most recently updated first.
Why do I see only a few tools, or none?
Some categories are small, and the free-plan and free-trial filters remove many tools. Change the budget to Any price, or open the category links under the results to see everything we list.
Are the free plans really free?
They are free to start, usually with limits on usage, quality or features. The pricing labels come from our listings and can lag behind changes the maker made, so check the maker's pricing page.
Can I list my AI tool in the finder?
Yes. Every active tool in our directory can appear here when it matches the answers. Submit your tool to get listed.
Do you store my answers?
No. They are used once to pick the tools and are not saved. They stay in the page address only so you can share or revisit the results.
